About this forum

Jet Boat Owners Forum opened in June 2025 for people who own a jet boat and got tired of digging through ski boat and pontoon forums to find anything about pumps, impellers and running shallow. Most of the boats here are Yamahas with the 1.8 engines, single or twin. Scarab and the Rotax engines get plenty of airtime too, and the people still running a Sea-Doo Challenger or a Chaparral Vortex are welcome.

The forum is member run. The moderator is Andre V., mod_andre_v on the boards. Andre wrote service tickets at a marina on Lake Travis for fourteen years and has owned four jet boats, currently a 2017 Yamaha 242X E-Series that spent two summers on a lift over dry mud. He reads the contact mailbox himself, usually at night.

House rules

• Year, model, engines and hours in the first line of every question. A 2018 twin 1.8 HO and a 2014 single 1.8 are different boats as far as the pump is concerned.
• Say what you paid in buying threads. Buying reports without a number get a note from a mod asking for one.
• No selling boats in threads. There is no classifieds board on purpose. Linking a public listing to make a point is fine.
• If you work for a dealer, a shop, a broker or a transport company, say so in your first post. Employees posting as customers get removed.
• Arguments are fine. Jet versus prop, Yamaha versus Rotax, keep it about boats and not about people.
• Mods move off topic posts and leave a note where they were. Threads get locked rarely and with a reason.
• Accounts are by email request while the bots are being kept out.

What this is not

Not a dealer, not a shop and not the owner's manual. When somebody here gives you a wear ring gap or an oil spec, check it against the manual for your engine before you trust your boat to it.
